OSU Bass Fishing: Tournaments

Big Ten Classic: Tournament Summary

Friday:
The team had 3 boats get on the water and search for fish independently. Battling the weather, 2 of the 3 boats found fish on the main lake.

Saturday:
Only 2 boats got on the water as one had main motor trouble. Again, the boats found fish in different places so we were pretty confident going into the competition day.

Championship Sunday:
All 3 boats got on the water, but 2 boats were confined to trolling motors all day long. Those 2 boats had to be towed off the water about 2 hours early and did not find any fish that measured the legal 14" limit. Luckily, the boat of Kevin Moeller and Casey Hammann came through for the team with a bag of 5+ pounds which was good enough for 5th place.

Tournament Summary:
The weather was awful all weekend, but the tournament was a great first experience for our brand new team. We learned a lot about competitive bass fishing and got to meet a lot of great people in the process.

Special Thanks:
The Bass Fishing Club of OSU would like to thank the following individuals and companies:
Troy and Mark Heckaman and the CBAA: For putting on a great tournament
Rod Anders: Being a boat driver for our club and helping with mechanical issues
Robert: For opening his house to the participants
Culver Portside Marina: For going out of their way to look at one of our boats quickly
Swan Lake Resort: For the great lodging and providing us with electrical hookups.

Also, thanks to all those parties involved behind the scenes to make this tournament as enjoyable as it was.
