OSU Bass Fishing: About UsThe Ohio State University Bass Fishing Club is a bass fishing club comprised of Undergraduate and Graduate students of The Ohio State University. Our members have all different levels of bass fishing experience. Founded by Club President Jason Founds in January of 2008, the club has been steadily growing ever since. The original dozen members of the club were found strictly through word-of-mouth and by posting on the Ohio Game Fishing message boards. After recruiting new members at some on-campus student activity fairs we have 35+ members to start out the 2011 season. One of the core purposes of this club is to improve the future of the sport that we love so much. For that reason, we encourage anybody to join this club, even if they have never touched a fishing pole in their life. After all, every avid fisherman at one time was throwing their first cast with no presumption of the passion they would find in this great sport. As the name of this club implies this is mostly a Bass Fishing club, but not exclusively. On different occasions throughout the year our members can be found chasing crappie, catfish, saugeye, or up on Lake Erie chasing walleyes. Several of our members compete in many local and national tournaments, but we also try to hold several casual events near campus for all members. These can range from small bank-fishing outtings to getting out on the water at some popular Columbus-area lakes. |
